Swisscom’s Room 2.0 and PressDisplay – the perfect match!

May 24, 2007

Hello everyone.

You may have already seen this in the Wall Street Journal this week or through Newspapers and Technology’s Dateline or while browsing the news wires or even on the NewspaperDirect Concierge blog, but just in case you missed it, I thought I’d share it with you here because I think this is such a great idea.

Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading telecoms company, has recently launched its new hospitality service for hotels called Room 2.0.

Room 2.0 has been designed to allow guests staying at over 2,300 Swisscom-serviced hotels in Europe and North America to always keep in touch with home and the office, be more productive, explore the city they’re visiting and enjoy a little “home away from home” right in their hotel room.

Through Swisscom’s broadband Internet Service, Room 2.0 includes some great services such as:

Stay in Touch:  allows guests to make unlimited long-distance phone calls
Explore:  features location-based information about local points of interest
Enjoy:  enables guests to read any of our PressDisplay.com publications and to listen to any of the available 8,000 radio stations
Streamline your Journey: brings real-time flight information to the fingertips of the traveler.

And what’s really great – it’s an advertising-free web interface!

Room 2.0 and PressDisplay.com

Room 2.0 is presently available in 16 pilot locations in Amsterdam and The Hague, but deployment plans are already underway to roll it out to Swisscom’s 2300 partner hotels in Europe and North America.

NewspaperDirect’s Print-On-Demand and ND Press services have always been popular with luxury hotels where guests enjoy personalized printed editions of their favorite newspapers.  Now they can enjoy access to hundreds of full content digital editions online through Room 2.0 as well.

So next time you plan a trip, check to see which hotels in the city carry Room 2.0 and book one of them.  Why not pamper yourself with a little  “home away from home” – you deserve it!
