Another cool feature announcement! Have you discovered the PressDisplay slideshow widget on iGoogle? Well, if you haven’t, I’m going to share it with you here so you can then go and try it yourself.
First, get yourself a Google account and go to your iGoogle home page. Here’s what mine looked like when I was just getting started:
Now click on the “Add stuff” link up on the top right of the screen and you’ll see the “widget gallery” available to you from Google – it is just full of great little widgets to customize your page.
Now do a search for “newspapers” on that page and voila…you’ll see the PressDisplay widget right on the top (hey….we beat the The Washington Post and NYT!)
Now…just click on “Add it now” and go back to your home page. You’ll have the scrolling thumbnails of all of our 500+ publications in the top left corner.
Just click on one of the thumbnails as they scroll by and it will open PressDisplay.com with that publication, ready for you to enjoy.
One last little thing…if you want to customize the scrolling widget, you can change it to only show publications in your selected language or country. You can even change the speed at which the papers roll by. Just click on the little down arrow on the top right of the widget and select “edit” and choose your newspapers.
I hope you will try this feature. Let me know what you think!
The Hollywood Reporter was so excited about their new digital edition, the announced it before we even had a chance to finalize our own release about it. I just love publishers like that! Check out their release.
And don’t forget to sign up for their free trial sponsored by GSM Association.
More good news…Mobile PressDisplay now runs on BlackBerry devices. You don’t need to install anything to access it either – just open your browser on your BlackBerry and go to www.pressdisplay.com. It’s that easy!
Last fall you may remember that we announced PressDisplay on smart mobile devices (ie. those running Windows Mobile V5). Now it’s running on the world’s most ubiquitous business mobile device as well. Check out our recent press release about it.
Due to the unique capabilities for different devices, I thought I would share with you the features that you can expect to receive with each of these different devices.

Well, our team is back from South Africa after yet another great WAN Newspaper Congress.
They worked hard and came back with great news and even better pictures . And it didn’t hurt to get a nice mention in the media.
David…if it’s not a football field, cricket’s the next best thing right?
And Nikolay…what’s with those street names?
It’s okay guys….you both deserve a rest after doing such a great job!
WAN is always a good event for NewspaperDirect and this year was no exception.
As a result of last year’s conference, we are able to offer The Guardian and the Daily Telegraph on PressDisplay.com – two very popular titles in the hundreds we offer.
This year we also acquired some terrific titles, but I can’t tell you about them just yet – stay tuned, however…it won’t be long.
They were fabulous hosts for our guys and worked hard for us before and during the show to make it such a success.
Besides the 150 copies of the International Herald Tribune printed every day at the show by NewspaperDirect, the team also printed about 70 different papers from around the world for the attendees each day. Our printed editions are always a hit at these events. In fact, I heard there was a bit of a tug-of-war over the last copy of the Sydney Morning Herald at the booth.
Anyway, it was a great event and one we’ll continue to attend because of the high calibre of attendees and great organization.
We just added a cool and much requested feature to PressDisplay. Now you have even more flexibility when reading your favorite newspapers.
In addition to reading in a one- or two-page format, you can now choose the ‘Fit to Width’ view which fills the width of your browser window with the newspaper page – check out the icon in the bottom tool bar…
Clicking on the icon opens up a little pop up list of options
Well, it certainly is great to see a publisher so excited about their digital edition and the exciting new features NewspaperDirect has brought to it like embedded video. Just open up this story below, go to the graphical view and click on the little video cameras at the top right of the front page to see it in action. And then let me know what you think.
This is just the beginning of a new wave in digital and we believe that embedded videos will become standard fare for many publishers now that they can see how well they capture and retain the attention of their readers.
I’ll be providing more exciting coverage of what our publishers are doing over the next while, so please keep coming back…

As promised yesterday, here’s another exciting announcement…
Today at the World Newspaper Congress in South Africa, NewspaperDirect announced that Global Newspapers (previously the most successful distributor for Satellite Newspapers (now called Diginews Press)) has made the switch to NewspaperDirect, to become our exclusive distributor in Portugal, Angola, Mozambique and Sudan.
“We chose to move to NewspaperDirect because it has the most reliable systems, innovative and secure technology, efficient operations and a reputation for superior customer service,” said Bernardo Claro Da Fonseca, CEO of Global Newspapers. “And as a trusted partner to publishers worldwide, with almost three times as many titles as anyone else, it was really a very easy decision for us to partner with the undisputed leader in the market.”
