Sony joins a growing list of devices already supported by PressDisplay.com, including PCs, Macs, smartphones, iPhones, iPod Touch and BlackBerry devices, IREX digital readers and, soon, Interead’s COOL-ER. But…this is just the beginning. As our CEO, Alex Kroogman explains, this has been our strategy all along…
“We are committed to providing customers with the broadest selection of titles on the most popular reading devices on the market. The moment a title is published on our platform, it’s instantly available in print, online, on mobile devices, and on e-readers. Our customers always have access to their favorite publications on whatever screen they choose to use. At the same time, we are using a proven pay-per-view business model that has benefited our publisher customers since 2003.”
To see how to export your favorite titles to the Sony Reader, check out this demo. But first, download and install the latest release of PressReader here.

Export PressDisplay.com titles to Sony
This movie requires Adobe Flash for playback.
Or to save a step, all you have to do is connect your device to your pc or laptop via USB cable and click the PressDisplay.com “Export to eReader” option from the front page of any respective paper.
Yes, 2010 is starting off with a bang, don’t you think? There will be two more exciting announcements this week from NewspaperDirect. But if I told you now, I’d have to shoot you, so…check back here tomorrow

Any idea how long it will be before you publish in Kindle Reader format?

Hi Jack
Soon…very very soon
I have the press release written and the video demo done. Some final testing left, but it’s almost ready. As soon as it’s passed through QA, I’ll post the announcement on the blog.
But…shhh…don’t tell anyone

Hello, I work at a Sony retail store in Canada and have a few questions before I start recommending your site to my customers. You mention the the Sony touch reader is supported, what about the Sony pocket reader? Also, will I be able to change font sizes like I can with ebooks using the reader, or must I use the zoom feature? Is there an extra fee for PressReader or is it included with the PressDisplay subscription? This sounds like a great resource and I am sure it will be a key selling feature for many consumers. Thank you

Thanks very much Christa! Here are the answers to your great questions:
You mention the Sony touch reader is supported, what about the Sony pocket reader?
- Yes, we support both readers
Also, will I be able to change font sizes like I can with ebooks using the reader, or must I use the zoom feature?
- You can change the sizes to S, M, L, XL and XXL using the selection under Options, as well as use the zoom feature.
Is there an extra fee for PressReader or is it included with the PressDisplay subscription?
- It’s included with the PressDisplay.com subscription.
I’m just about to post a demo on how to download titles to the Reader. Stay tuned for that!
Cheers

So this does NOT work with older readers like the 505? I have followed the steps but my reader does not show up in the Mac PressReader software.

Got it. I have to do it through the web based Press Display site. But it works.

Thanks for your comments Gameboy213. Glad to hear that it’s working on your 505 Reader! Yes, using the Export to eReader option directly from PressDisplay.com is the best option AND it saves an extra step
. I’ve made sure to include this option in the blog posting.
Cheers,
Michael

Export to e-reader functionally does not show up on the mac version of pressdisplay. Is this in the works at all?
January 20, 2010 at 11:43 pm |
Hi Martin
Export to e-reader works on the Mac, but only from the front page of the title you want to download to your sony or kindle on PressDisplay.com. The PressReader Application for the Mac does not yet have that feature, but it is in the works.
thanks
