Day 3 of the London 2012 Games

July 31st, 2012 No comments

Day 3 of the London 2012 Games saw medals awarded in the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics event. Most notably, the Chinese men’s team took home a well-earned Gold medal, duplicating their effort from the Beijing 2008 Games. Great Britain’s men’s gymnastics team also celebrated with Bronze – their first medal in gymnastics in 100 years! The 3rd place finished was bittersweet however, as they initially won Sliver only to be bumped down to Bronze after further review.  The Japanese team finished in 2nd place.

In other news, an incredible new world record has also been set by Chinese swimming sensation, 16 year old Yi Shiwen. Yi smashed the 400 meter individual medley world record, swimming the last 50 meters faster than USA’s Ryan Lochte did in the men’s event. Her incredible world record has unfortunately caused a bit of a stir at the games with allegations of doping.
