Day 11 of the London 2012 Games

Team Canada saw its first Gold medal this weekend in trampoline. Rosie MacLennan won Canada’s first Gold medal of the London 2012 Games and Canada’s first Gold medal ever in Women’s Trampoline. MacLennan beat out two Chinese competitors, both Gold medal favorites, but one of her competitors, He Wenna, fell during her performance, securing MacLennan the Gold medal.

Another Gold medal first was captured by Brazilian artistic gymnast Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti in the Rings competition. Zanetti defeated defending champion Chen Yibing, also known as “Lord of the Rings”, of China to win Brazil’s first medal in Artistic Gymnastics.

In other news, Usain Bolt beat his own record from the 2008 Beijing Games, with another incredible win in the 100-meter dash. His time of 9.63 seconds earned him the Gold medal, setting another Games record. He competes again today in the 200 meter event.
