As you know by now, our first “Win an iPad2″ contest ended last month. First off, I’d like to send a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our winners from Facebook and Twitter. Enjoy those new iPad2s+PressReader!!!

We loved interacting with our fans throughout the contest, and we hope you had as much fun participating in the contest as we did. I’ve had an especially great time getting to know all you fans and followers throughout my short summer internship here at NewspaperDirect. Thank you for posting, tweeting, sharing, and getting the word out every day! Your poems, pictures, and constant creativity have made the contest so much fun!  In fact, we enjoyed your creative contributions so much, we decided to share the highlights with everyone. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy!

And don’t worry, this contest may be over, but our next contest is just around the corner. The PressDisplay folks are coming up with all kinds of challenges for you to solve, giving you multiple chances to win a new iPad2 + PressReader.

After 2 exciting and frenetic months of Facebook and Twitter liking, following and sharing, the PressReader “Win-An-iPad 2” contest came to an end on Friday, July 29^th, 2011.

When it was all said and done, 7 lucky participants won a brand new iPad 2 and year-long subscription to PressReader and PressDisplay.com.  Prizes were awarded once we reached 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 & 5,000 Facebook likes and contest entries and when we reached 4,000, 5,000 & 6,000 Twitter Followers and contest retweets.  For complete details on how the entire contest went down, please click here.

Hey there PressReader fans! Your favorite iPad and iPhone newspaper app has just been updated and is now ready for download through the iTunes App Store.

PressReader version 2.3.1 brings readers a couple of new user requested features and fixes.  Here’s what you can expect:

• Added support for right-to-left page flipping in full newspaper view (on applicable publications only)
• Reintroduced automatic zoom out when flipping pages (now controlled in Settings – set to “On” by default)
• Fixed issue causing PressReader crash when default iPad language set to Italian

Well, looks like PressReader had “one too many” newspapers.  After failing the app breathalyzer crashalyzer test, V2 spent a few nights in the slammer and is determined to clean up its act!

In all seriousness though, PressReader Fans, thank you!

Your feedback has been instrumental in helping us address various instabilities occurring in version 2.  We’ve managed to fix some already, but you can bet we won’t be sleeping until they are all resolved.

Our mission is to make PressReader as rock solid and stable as possible for you.

Step one involves submitting a new version of PressReader to Apple by the end of this week.  Subject to its approval, you’ll soon be running a much more stable version of the app.  And for those still running iOS 3.1.3 on your iPhone or iPod Touch, this release will help you get right back on the PressReader bandwagon!

If you’re looking to try out PressReader for the first time and have promo/offer code, you can now sign up using the code directly through the app on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.  Just open Safari on your Apple device, navigate to www.pressreader.com and click on the PressDisplay.com registration link.

In the meantime, we would like to thank all current users for your patience and ongoing support of PressReader.  We would also like to take this opportunity to open up the floor.  We strongly believe that with your continued feedback, suggestions and insight, PressReader will only get better and better.

Have you been eagerly awaiting a brand new release of PressReader for iPad?  Well, it’s right around the corner and it’s better than ever!

PressReader v2.0 brings with it some great new navigational properties as well as a more intuitive end user experience that will help you more easily download titles and create auto-delivery subscriptions.

Here’s a quick preview of what you can expect:

• Redesigned look and feel including brand new Library Shelf view
• Improved navigation using section and page slider
• Ability to automatically remove publications after 60 days (users can still choose to automatically remove issues after 3, 7, 14, and 30 days or choose not to automatically remove old publications).
• Simplified automatic delivery process
• Ability to exclude downloaded publications while backing up device through iTunes

Version 2.0 of PressReader will be available through the iTunes App Store within the next couple of days so please keep your eyes peeled!
